Morena Baccarin
An Emmy-nominated actress with talent and poise, Morena Baccarin has built an impressive list of credits throughout her career, challenging herself with each new role.
Baccarin can currently be seen as the lead of the new CBS series SHERIFF COUNTRY, a spin-off centered on her recurring character Mickey from FIRE COUNTRY. She’ll be seen next year opposite Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista in Amazon’s THE WRECKING CREW and as Gerard Butler’s co-lead in GREENLAND:MIGRATION sequel to GREENLAND. She just wrapped filming The Sorceress in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE with Jared Leto and Idris Elba.
Baccarin is best known for starring as Ryan Reynold’s tough and witty love interest Vanessa in the DEADPOOL, including in last year’s DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE. Last year she also starred opposite Anthony Mackie in the sci-fi thriller ELEVATION, which she co-produced, and in Edward Burn’s new film MILLERS IN MARRIAGE.
Her other recent feature work includes FAST CHARLIE opposite Pierce Brosnan and LAST LOOKS opposite Charlie Hunnam. Additional film credits include THE GOOD HOUSE opposite Sigourney Weaver, ODE TO JOY opposite Martin Freeman, and the doc, FRAMING JOHN DELOREAN, opposite Alec Baldwin. She also had a cameo role in comedy, SPY, opposite Melissa McCarthy.
In TV, Baccarin captured the attention of audiences and critics alike for her Emmy-nominated performance in HOMELAND as Jessica Brody, the bereaved widow of Lt. Nicolas Brody, portrayed by Damian Lewis, starring alongside Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin. She began her career as Inara in FIREFLY, as well as its big screen adaptation SERENITY. Later she was a series regular in FOX’s GOTHAM,
ABC’s sci-fi drama V, and in NBC’s thriller heist series THE ENDGAME where she stars as the antagonist alongside Ryan Michelle Bathé. She has also recurred on the CBS show THE MENTALIST and was an episode lead for CBS’s THE TWILIGHT ZONE, Jordan Peele’s updated version of the classic anthology series. Internationally, Morena was the romantic lead in the latest season of SESSAO DE TERAPIA, based
on Showtime’s IN TREATMENT, SESSAO is now in its fourth season in Brazil.
Baccarin is actively involved with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and also sits on the board of Waterwell, a civic-minded theatre company based in New York that inspires audiences and students to change the world they live in.
Baccarin was born in Rio de Janeiro and moved with her family to New York City at the age of 7. She is a graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School and resides in New York City with her husband and two children.
Morena Baccarin will receive the Saint Augustine Film Festival's Career Achievement Award on Saturday, Jan 10, 6:30pm prior to EVERYONE IS LYING TO YOU FOR MONEY, at Lewis Auditorium.
